Panasonic LUMIX S9 Video Recording Limits

The Panasonic LUMIX S9 has a maximum video recording time of 20 minutes, but only for some formats. That limit is also dependent upon multiple factors like camera settings, media storage size, camera power, and internal camera temperature. See details and notes below for more information.

Notes

  • When recording to SDHC memory cards and/or recording in FHD formats, a new file will be created to continue recording when the file size exceeds 4GB.
  • When recording to SDXC memory cards in 4K MP4 formats, a new file will be created to continue recording when the file size exceeds 96GB.
  • When recording to SDXC memory cards in MOV formats, a new file will be created to continue recording when the file size exceeds 192GB.
  • During video recording, recording may be stopped to protect the camera if the internal temperature gets too high, even if it has not reached to continuous recording time.
  • If video recording stops due to temperature increase in the camera, the temperature in the camera needs to be lowered before video recording can be started again.
