The Panasonic LUMIX S5IIX has no video recording limit, but only for some formats. That limit is also dependent upon multiple factors like camera settings, media storage size, camera power, and internal camera temperature. See details and notes below for more information.

Notes

  • When recording to SDHC memory cards or recording in FHD MP4 formats, a new file will be created to continue recording if the continuous recording time exceeds 30 minutes or the file size exceeds 4GB.
  • When recording in MP4 formats other than FHD and using an SDXC memory card or an external SSD, a new file will be created to continue recording if the continuous recording time exceeds 3 hours, 4 minutes or the file size exceeds 96GB.
  • When recording in MOV formats at 600 Mbps or less and using an SDXC memory card or an external SSD, a new file will be created to continue recording if the continuous recording time exceeds 3 hours, 4 minutes or the file size exceeds 192GB.
  • When recording in MOV formats at 800 Mbps or more and using an external SSD, a new file will be created to continue recording if the continuous recording time exceeds 3 hours, 4 minutes or the file size exceeds 640GB.
  • When recording in FHD ProRes formats and using an SDXC memory card or an external SSD, a new file will be created to continue recording if the continuous recording time exceeds 3 hours, 4 minutes or the file size exceeds 192GB.
  • When recording in ProRes formats other than FHD and using an SDXC memory card or an external SSD, a new file will be created to continue recording if the continuous recording time exceeds 3 hours, 4 minutes or the file size exceeds 640GB.
  • When the temperature of the camera rises, a high temperature icon appears blinking on the screen. If you continue to use the camera, a message indicating that the camera cannot be used is displayed on the screen and recording, HDMI output, and the streaming function will be stopped. Wait for the camera to cool down and for the message indicating that the camera can be used again. When the message indicating that it can be used again is displayed, turn the camera off and then on again.
  • The following types of video cannot be recorded to SD cards, and a commercially available external SSD will be required for recording: MOV with bit rate of 800 Mbps or more, Apple ProRes with resolution other than FHD, Slow & Quick video with a recording quality with image compression system ALL-Intra.
  • An increase of the camera’s internal temperature may cause recording to stop before the maximum recording time is reached.
